Our student lands 2nd place at the prestigious RIMOWA Design Prize!

Daniela Lindenberga competed with her anti-harassment device "XO"

Daniela Lindenberga landed a fantastic 2nd place in the RIMOWA Design Prize 2024 with her innovation “IXO” and received a special award. The ceremony was held on 29.04.2024 in Berlin and the project was supervised by Prof. Markus Wente. She is in her 4th semester of the B.A. Advertising & Brand Design program at SRH Berlin School for Design and Communication.

For “IXO”, Daniela Lindenberga designed a portable safety device that protects against violence and harassment in public spaces. Quickly activated, the device records the situation using a camera and microphone. The centrally positioned X lights up red as soon as the device is recording, then saves these on a smartphone app. A flashlight, a loudspeaker and a GPS tracker are also integrated. This means that attacks can be documented in an emergency and your location can be transmitted to security authorities in a matter of seconds.

The design was inspired by classic fabric patterns and the eye-catching warning colors of the animal world, providing a visual deterrent effect on attackers.

The prestigious design prize for students at German universities promotes creative talent and this year's theme was “Mobility”. The students were supported through a mentoring program, industry contacts and a professional workplace during the competition.

Congratulations, Daniela!
